Tetrecom can evaluate where the child looks when reading letters and numbers, and how long it takes the child to recognize and name individual letters and numbers. For example, a record might look like this:
Reading record and trajectory of eye movements in the reading lower-case letters test in a boy from the 1st year of speech therapy elementary school (June 2021). The boy had one delay in school attendance and was struggling with developmental dysphasia. The length of the eye movement trajectory was 374 cm and the reading time was 56 seconds. The boy read 26 out of 31 letters correctly (they are marked in green), he read two letters ("t" and "ď") incorrectly (they are marked in red) and he pronounced three letters ("r", "c" and "ø") with a deviation in articulation (they are marked in orange).
Reading record and trajectories of eye movements in the Small Print Reading test in a boy without logopedic difficulties (with typical language development). The boy did not have a deferral of school attendance and attended the 1st year of a regular elementary school (June 2021). The length of the eye movement trajectory was 222 cm and the reading time was 20 seconds. The boy confidently read all 31 letters correctly at a brisk pace. He read fluently in a left-to-right direction without specific strategies.
Based on this evaluation, TETRECOM will create a detailed report with a graphical representation of the results. The teacher can then share it with parents.
An example of the recording of the evaluated trajectory of eye movements in the Reading small print test in a girl without logopedic difficulties (with typical language development) is presented in the picture on the right. The girl did not have a postponement of school attendance and was attending the second year of regular elementary school (September 2020). We see that the length of the trajectory of the eye movements when reading all 31 small print letters measures 208 cm and the reading time was 15 seconds. The girl read all 31 letters correctly.
Recording of the trajectory of eye movements in the Reading small print test in a girl from the 2nd year of speech therapy elementary school (September 2020). The girl had one postponement of schooling and struggled with difficulties in the sense of developmental dysphasia, cognitive deficits, difficulties in graphomotor, fine motor and oromotor skills, deficiencies in auditory analysis and synthesis, phonemic differentiation, in reading and verbal-acoustic memory, present in speech dysgrammatisms. We can see that the length of the trajectory of the eye movements when reading all 31 small print letters measures 566 cm and the reading time was 1 minute and 20 seconds. The girl read all 18 letters correctly, read 1 letter incorrectly (š) and did not read 12 letters (missed or did not know).
